She was secured a handsome marriage with another nobleman, Lord Pierre-Yves LaCroix, at the age of 17. Her marriage was a happy one and Taya was well liked by all. On the occasion of her 24th birthday, her husband threw a lavish party in her honor. All nobleblood had been invited. The night ended in terror. Thieves intent on plunder, slaughtered the guests. Taya woke to find her husband murdered and all who knew her believing her dead. When she revealed herself to her servants, they believed her to be a demon and chased her out.

She spent years traveling from place to place, using her beauty to gain the protection of various men. Though many thought that she would trade her body for protection, they soon found out how wrong they were and she would move on. Occasionally, someone would discover her talent for rising from the dead and she would be accused of witchcraft. She had been condemned and hanged 3 times those first two years before she learned how to disguise her nature better. She had been wandering for about 2 years when she met another immortal.

Feeling the electric buzz, she was confused and scared. The man, Michael Langlais, explained to her what she was. He was the one to teach her the rules of the game and give her her first sword. Taya learned quickly and believed that Michael was the one who would care for her forever.

She followed him for close to 10 years before he was struck down by an opponent. That was when she had her first battle. Seeing Michael dead, Taya struck with rage. The other immortal staggered under her blows. Though tiny, Taya when enraged packed a powerful swing. She drove him back and when he finally fell to his knees, she lifted her sword, prepared to take the final swing. The Quickening was immense. The light could be seen for miles.

Years passed and Taya kept traveling, making few friends out of fear of losing them when the time came to leave. She had fought many immortals, but had never met another woman immortal until she was 215. Katryn DuLac was a kind woman who had been an immortal for about 300 years when Taya met her. She became good friends with her and learned many things. Taya was saddened when she lost track of Katryn. They had been separated during their escape from Russia during the Revolution.

She settled down in Canada, becoming a writer of popular fiction and poetry. She has actually done so using 2 aliases. She started her career and then 'died' only to resurface as her own granddaugher. Taya finds it amusing when in interviews she talks about her 'grandmother' who also wrote. She was traveling, enjoying the view, and doing research for another novel in the US when Captain Tripps made its rounds. Now she is struggling to survive in what seems to be a dead world with no one else around.
