Personality/Demeanor:
Shy but friendly. She is very reserved around new people and is quite content to spend time alone. But she also is the typical teen in that she likes to hang out with friends, laughing and listening to music.

History:
Emily always knew that her parents were watching her. Looking for a hint of the genius that was apparent in her sister, Sarah. Most children would have resented the constant comparison but Emily knew that Sarah would have given anything to be 'normal' so she couldn't hate her.

She was the 'normal' child all through school. She couldn't tell you how many times she heard "Sarah's your sister?" from shocked teachers. Emily was an intelligent child but she hid it, trying to keep her parents from noticing, afraid that she would be put through the same tests that Sarah hated.

When she was 11, Sarah left for school at Harvard, and Emily was alone. For the first time, no one asked her about her day. Her parents meant well, but were too wrapped up in their monitoring of Sarah's education. Again, Emily didn't hate Sarah for it. She only felt sad that her parents seemed to be obsessed with intelligence.

At the age of 12, she was given the Canadian Skills Test. She placed above her grade level in all, at least 2 full grades. But her reading comprehension is what worried her. It was at University Level. Emily hid the results from her parents, afraid that they would decide that she needed to leave her current school and her friends for a 'better' school.

She should have saved herself the worry. Less then 6 months later, her father took a transfer to Denver, Colorado and she had to move anyway. Her birthday was spent in an empty house, with no furniture and no friends. She started school and before she could make any friends, only a couple of weeks after moving, Captain Tripps hit the town.

Now Emily is alone. Her parents dead, her sister too far away to help, Emily had to face a dead town and dwindling supplies. All this and she's only 13!
