Skills: Hebrew, English, Arabic, German. Most of her skills come with her career within the military. She is familiar with various types of weapons and basic first aid, as well being very accomplished in Krav Maga, the style of martial arts developed specifically for the Israeli Defense Forces. Ellie picked up interrogation skills during a very short stint with the Jerusalem police force. In contrast, she's good with small children, as she often took care of her sisters' kids during her free time.

Personality: Over the years, Ellie has become a cautious, calculating, and rather self-contained person. She knows that the world isn't always a safe, friendly place, hence her guarded approach to most situations; seeing her acting spontaneous or open (the latter depending on the company) would be a very uncharacteristic event. However, she's a steadfast and patient soul, capable of tremendous devotion, dedication, and endurance. Her ability to follow through and stick with things is one of her greatest assets; however, once her course is set, she pursues tenaciously until it is completed, stubbornly resisting any attempts to sway her away from her purpose.

History: Elizra Schliemann was born to Avram Schliemann and Zelde Halevi on January 13, 1951 in Safed, Israel. Avram Schliemann was a German Jewish immigrant who, being one of the few survivors of the Treblinka death camp, left Europe in 1948 following the founding of Israel; Zelde's family, on the other hand, had been living in Safed for generations. Ellie was the second of three daughters, born two years after older sister Dalia and four years before her younger sister Chava. She had a fairly normal childhood and at the age eighteen started her compulsory military service (Israeli law states that all citizens and permanent residents of Israel are required to perform military service for a span of three years for men or one year to nine months for women); at the end of one year, Ellie decided she liked the military life and decided to make a career out of it.

First, she signed up for officer's training, which came with an obligatory nine month tour of duty, which was spent for most part on the Egyptian border. At this point, in 1971, women wouldn't be allowed combat positions until the mid-1990s, so she decided to become a military instructor; after more training, she began training male and female recruits as they came in for mandatory basic training. The main problem with the situation is that female instructors, while they're highly qualified and motivated teachers, they lack actual field experience due to being barred from combat positions.

However, a new martial discipline was being developed and refined for the Israeli Defense Forces: Krav Maga. Krav Maga (meaning "Contact Combat" in Hebrew) is not, unlike many martial arts of Asian origin, based around harmonious philosophies; it's a rather brutal, non-nonsense highly effective technique, with a focus to quickly disarm and incapacitate the enemy by all means necessary. When Ellie found out about the program, she immediately resigned her teaching commission to volunteer for Krav Maga development program. She wished to become as qualified as possible and it seemed like a way to do so. By 1979, Krav Maga was ready to be implemented within the IDF; Ellie was one of the first qualified instructors of the discipline.

By 1983, Ellie had reached the rank of Major and had a position teaching Krav Maga to Sayeret recruits (Sayeret is Israel's special forces unit). It was during that year that she and one of the other instructors, Major Ari Cohen, were demonstrating when one's of Cohen's kicks caught Ellie in her left temple. Major Cohen was a large man - 6'4", 220 pounds - and the force of the blow not only fractured her skull in several places, but nearly snapped her spine in half at the neck. A few hours after being declared clinically dead, she woke in hospital bed on life support.

After a year of leave and countless rounds of medical testing, she was declared fit for duty and went back to the military. Ellie began to report a sporadic light buzzing sensation in her head, similar to headache; it wasn't painful....just a bit annoying. After another round of tests, doctors found no physical cause for the buzzing. She was told to take over-the-counter painkillers if it continued. Over the years, she continued as instructor, turning down several promotions. In the beginning of 2001, Ellie hit her 50th birthday. At an age when most officers had retired or had taken desk jobs, a military doctor described her as "remarkably well-persevered" in an official report. Soon she was assigned to one of the task forces tracking terrorists in Jerusalem. She didn't like the work from the start and did everything in her power to get reassigned.

After her stint in Jerusalem, Ellie had a good deal of leave time accumulated. She decided to take a month-long trip to San Francisco to see the sights - the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, the whole nine yards. About halfway through the vacation, the United States accidentally unleashed the superflu upon itself and the rest of the world, effectively trapping Ellie on American soil. When the people started to die by the truckloads, the United States' infrastructure crumbled and Ellie found herself with no way to get back home. As the real chaos began to start, she was cornered by a stranger with a funny-looking tattoo on his wrist who told her to, "Keep to holy ground." Ellie had no idea what he meant.
