Personality: He is very people oriented, forms deep friendships, personable, easy to like, has a deep need to help. Daniel is also highly intelligent, but not real heavy on common sense. He has innate ability with languages, a little hyperactive, keeps notebooks with character studies and sketches, shy when he first meets people but opens up pretty quickly.

History:
Orphaned at 5, raised in DSS custody, shuffled around in foster care without much in the line of adult role models, suffered some abuse himself as a child, studied art and human resources in college on scholarship and work study, received Masters in Social Work and has worked with placement of abused and homeless children. Professional artist on the side. Recovering alcoholic with 4 years sobriety. Met and married another social worker, Annalisa, while involved in work with homeless shelter where she was the on-site social worker for battered women after having grown up in abusive home herself. She died during the plague after suffering through violent dreams of Flagg, which Daniel did not share and could not understand; it became a conflict between them and he feels a lot of guilt at not believing her before she died and feeling that he couldn't help her. Since the plague hit he has been alone and making small forays on horseback to look for other survivors. He does not do 'alone' very well.
